Lightning Bolt is a level 3 spell for your D&D table. A bolt of lightning shoots out in a straight line: 8d6 lightning damage to everyone in it; a quick dodge halves it.
Lightning Bolt is the fireball's loud cousin. Instead of a circle it makes a long straight line, a crack of white light and thunder from your hand to the far end of the corridor.
At the table, it is at its best in long halls, bridges and lines of marching foes. Friends standing in the line get zapped too, so the caster should look before they point.
